ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL PROGRAMS

Title: Assistant Director of Social Programs

Reports to: Director of Marketing, Data Management, and Social Programs (subject to change) 

Job Objectives:

  • Provide oversight of Hudson House Supervisor, CORE (Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment) and Vocational Supervisor, CORE Licensed Social Worker and Social Programs Assistant Manager. 
  • Provide oversight and management of the following programs and services: CORE, Vocational, Hudson House, Travel Activity, WOGI (Welcome Orange Geriatric Initiative), Rehabilitative Social Club, Compeer, Compeer Homeless, Friends, and Family Support. 

 Perform duties while actively promoting an environment consistent with MHA’s Cultural Equity Policy and WELCOME Orange.

* Direct oversight and supervision of stated programs are periodically reevaluated and may change subject to staffing vacancies and/or the discretion of Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision of Hudson House Supervisor, Social Programs Assistant Manager, as well as CORE and Vocational Clinical Manager.
  • Lead, motivate and supervise a dedicated team, ensuring their development and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Assists in the development and review of departmental policies, procedures and manuals.
  • Conduct recruitment, hiring, training, and annual evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from entities such as Medicaid and NYS Office of Mental Health.
  • Oversee timely billing submissions and internal audits, fostering accountability.
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations and safeguard confidentiality.
  • Monitor and optimize program performance, referring participants for additional services as needed.
  • Provide culturally competent services and maintain agency policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and service providers, participating in meetings as an MHA representative.
  • Review and approve relevant program staff time records, paid time off requests, project reports, correspondence, and financial expenditures.
  • Engage in relevant program staff’s performance management setting and measuring goals, objectives and milestones.
  • Conduct staff training and development opportunities.

Other Duties:

  • Participate in MHA’s committees as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) OR Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with commensurate clinical training and experience with at least 1 year of administrative and supervisory experience.

OR

  • Master's Degree in health and human services, social work, or related field with at least 2 years of administrative and supervisory experience. 

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health and human services with 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including Pivot Tables, for effective data management and reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with public speaking abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, especially in crisis situations, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience within mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities services systems, reflecting a commitment to social justice.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and clear record under mandated background checks.

 Terms of Employment/Benefits:

  • Exempt position with forty (40) hours per week.
