MHP hiring a full time Recovery Resource Specialist who will partner with participants on an individual basis to identify their immediate needs and their long-term goals. Recovery Resource Specialists support participants by providing supportive counseling, case management services, running groups, and other activities designed to foster recovery, achieve stable housing and increase self-sufficiency.

The position is Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. As an MHP employee, you will have access to the following benefits:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Supports participants in developing an individualized person-centered and self-directed support plan based on their needs and preferences.
  • Supports participants with acquiring and maintaining benefits, accessing appropriate medical, mental health conditions and substance use disorders services.
  • Facilitates discussions, groups, and recreational activities; collaborates with participant’s supports as needed.
  • Assists participants with educational, employment, and social related goals, benefit acquisition/medical, mental health and substance use services, medication, self-care, budgeting skills and exploring housing options in accordance with the support plan.
  • In collaboration with participants, creates WRAP Plans and encourages the development of mental health advanced directives; facilitates peer support groups on participants’ interests as needed.
  • Supports participants as needed in the community with social/recovery-oriented goals, doctor’s/housing appointments, etc.
  • Develops and maintains linkages with adjunct providers to coordinate participant services.
  • Obtains necessary information during the intake process, and collaboratively documents participant progress in MHP’s electronic health records system; ensures that all data is correct by verifying the information with the participant.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP's mission.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field required.
  • 2 years of related work experience (including internships and volunteer work) in a community based behavioral health setting.
  • Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Must be compassionate, flexible and knowledgeable of supportive counseling.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, electronic health records, internet research, etc. and the ability to learn software applications relevant to your position.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Strong skillsets in oral and written communication, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem solving and organization.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR or the ability to obtain the certification as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sit/stand at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to travel within the community that may not be handicap accessible: walking and/or drive agency vehicles, depending on the needs of the program. Ability to use public transportation, move around inner-city neighborhoods daily, including in inclement weather, carry computer equipment, and ascend/descend stairs carrying computer equipment. Must be able to travel to all sites supported, and MHP's main offices as needed.
