Mercatus Center at George Mason University is Hiring a PROGRAM ASSOCIATE ACADEMIC & STUDENT PROGRAMS Near Fairfax, VA

OverviewThe Mercatus Center seeks a bright and motivated Program Associate to join our Academic & Student Programs team. As a Program Associate, you’ll contribute to supporting program leads and scholars, ensuring successful events, and executing project logistics, along with other administrative functions requiring excellent attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
In addition to developing your professional skillset in the role, the Program Associate will also participate in the year-long Koch Associate Program (KAP), which aims to develop leadership aptitudes. KAPs meet one day a week as well as participate in a few summits throughout the year. Though employment at Mercatus is contingent upon participation in KAP, there is no need to formally apply; we will make the recommendation on your behalf.
This position reports to the Senior Program and Operations Director at Academic & Student Programs and works primarily at the office on George Mason University’s Fairfax campus.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for Academic & Student Programs, including staffing events and preparing materials, assisting with recruiting efforts and database management, and helping with the administrative needs of program leads and scholars
  • Draft program notes and reports, as well as copyedit manuscripts, journal articles, and other research products
  • Contribute to office management for the Fairfax office by sharing reception desk duties and assisting in day-to-day operations including facilities maintenance, office and kitchen supply inventory, and presenting a professional office appearance
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and balance multiple short- and long-term projects without direct supervision
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience in a professional staff support, program management, or events management role preferred
  • Interest in economics, classical liberalism, and public policy preferred
