Scientist – in-vitro disease modeling
Genome Sciences department in MRL is looking for a motivated scientist to lead the identification and validation of new genetic targets for various cardiometabolic diseases including Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), Obesity, Atherosclerosis, Retinal diseases, and vascular diseases. This individual will play a pivotal role as a member of the discovery team, contributing to the development of innovative models for screening drug targets.
Job responsibilities:
• Establish stem cell-based in-vitro disease platforms.
• Design assays using high content imaging techniques to facilitate screening of small molecules and genetic modifications using CRISPR.
• Perform lab experiments, interpret data, and effectively communicate findings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in therapeutic and functional areas.
• Maintain electronic lab notebook and sample inventories.
Qualifications:
Education requirements:
• BS with 5 years of experience/Masters with 3 years of experience/PHD with 1 year of experience in a wet lab setting.
• Candidates with a background in muscle biology will be given preference.
Required experience and skills:
• Skilled in cell culturing and differentiation of stem cells into specific lineages.
• Experience with gene manipulation technologies such as CRISPR, siRNA, ASOs, lentivirus, and AAVs.
• Expertise in molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction, qPCR, ELISA/MSD, and ICC.
• Critical thinking with an ability to formulate experimental strategies.
• Effective in working independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
