Responsibilities:
  • Promotes the implementation of national standards of practice for patients on assigned units/departments by articulating current national practice, assessing current MMC practice and developing action plans to meet deficiencies.
  • Collaborates with staff to develop the mission and goals congruent with MMC's mission, philosophy and corporate priorities. Models collaborate decision-making principles and practice.
  • Accountable for fiscal management, participates in the development of budget and monitors budget performance throughout the fiscal year, develops and implements cost containment measures. Ensures efficient use of resources in response to changing needs. Monitors staff in fiscal accountability.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all policies and procedures related to operations and personnel management and is accountable for appropriate application and compliance, including:
    • Recruitment, selection and retention of employees
    • Development of staff through monitoring and evaluating performance, counseling and providing the opportunity for
    • Growth and advancement
  • Ensures adequate resources are available to support and maintain clinical competency of staff
  • Communicates information that reflects changes in the health care industry, the organization's strategic plans and department-based initiatives. Accepts and evidences responsibility for advocacy and communication when participating in councils, committees, etc.
  • Promotes leadership and professional growth by maintaining current knowledge of clinical practice, clinical research, management principles and health care trends.
  • Assures departments participation in organizational change through knowledge and practice of CQI principles, mentoring of staff and supporting the organization through CQI initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Nursing required, Masters degree preferred.
  • Three years Nursing experience required.
  • Two years management experience or demonstrated ability in effective communication, problem solving, performance motivation and leadership required.
  • Current RN Licensure in the State of Maryland
