Shift: Days
Position Purpose: Provides clinical oversight and supervision of daily hospice patient care activities provided by hospice staff to patients and families admitted to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
What You Will Do
  • Performs workflow tasks in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) associated with the responsible positions of Clinical Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Quality Assurance, and Scheduler in an efficient manner to prevent a delay in the provision of care. This includes but is not limited to auditing orders, admissions, discharges, and other charts in quality assurance workflow in the absence of the Clinical Manager.
  • Uses critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills to assist with daily workflow and clinical oversight in collaboration with the clinical manager.
  • Facilitate referrals and help ensure appropriateness of patients. Assures that clinicians are coordinating appropriate services, providing services under an interdisciplinary plan of care, utilizing community resources, and following Conditions of Participation (COP's) and documents according to policy on a timely basis.
  • Assures all required documentation from assigned team is submitted on a timely basis and holds staff accountable to policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a resource to nurses and hospice aides including conducting supervisory visits.
  • Collects and utilizes data and demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing services.
  • Provides coordination of patient/family care, knowledge of diverse lifestyles, family structures and dynamics, cultural and religious practices, learning preferences, and age and gender specific considerations.
Hours/ScheduleFull Time 40hrs week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm with administrative call rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Iowa RN license required
  • BSN or bachelor's degree in health administration desirable
  • Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification preferred
  • Caring for terminally ill preferred
  • Must have demonstrated current nursing skills competencies with a minimum of two (1) years previous experience required.
  • Hospice or Home Health experience preferred
  • Current motor vehicle driver’s license, motor vehicle insurance and availability to travel
