The Registered Professional Nurse is accountable for the delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient and family centered care in order to achieve the Mission of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and the Vision of Patient Care Services.
What You Will Do
- Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act (2006); retains accountability for one’s own nursing practice.
- Responsible for planning, assessing, intervening, co-coordinating and providing direct patient care by utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Communicates with physicians, ancillary care-givers, patients and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
- Fulfill the responsibility of holistic (body, mind and spirit) nursing care based on the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center.
- Performs assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
- Active registration for Registered Nurse - Board of Nursing, State of Iowa
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; must obtain within 6 years of hire, effective 04/01/2012.
- Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
- Labor/Delivery experience preferred.
- Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
- PALS certification required within one year of hire date.
- NRP required within 6 months of hire.
- EFM certification preferred. If not certified, required within one year of starting labor and delivery orientation.
- Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization preferred.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance own professional nursing practice.
- Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of MercyOne.
