This position is in-person and located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineering Supervisor will be a leader in the Quality department and has the responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of quality systems. The role is pivotal in continuous improvement activities pertaining to the quality function within the business and is critical in maintaining sound customer relationships.

Major Responsibilities of Position

• Management: Be able to perform all tasks related to quality as a mean to train and coach the quality team to develop their skills and knowledge. Supervise Quality activities, establish schedules, and maintain departmental training and conduct annual performance reviews.
• Quality: Ensure both internal and customer issues are communicated, recorded, and answered in a timely manner. Pursuing resolution of internal and external quality issues by implementing robust and irreversible corrective actions. Lead a team with expertise and knowledge in finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve quality output and continuous improvements working with Operations and Engineering.
• Supervising/People Development: Supervise Quality Engineering staff with involvement in hiring, training and development, salary reviews and performance Management. Ensure technical support is provided to Quality Engineers and department personnel as required. Train team members in quality systems and procedures. Provide leadership to Quality Engineering group in the utilization of Quality Principles, sound problem solving tools including SPC and CAPAs. Work with the team to ensure all plant goals are met, promoting customer satisfaction.
• Data Analysis: Promote a data driven mind set throughout the organization.
• Reporting: Monthly review and reporting of service and OEM customer scorecards and forwarding to Quality Manager. PPAP preparation and submission to customer for new die’s, process change and product change.
• Communication: Act as the liaison, when required, between the customer and plant team to ensure that issues are resolved with urgency, mutual consent and satisfaction. Facilitate and coordinate meetings to address customer complaints, providing necessary information to facilitate team decisions. Facilitate discussions and actively participate in APQP process.
• Customer Service: Front line responder to Customer Quality complaints. Ensuring that customer concerns are properly dealt with utilizing problem solving tools and Corrective Actions (CA’s). Interfacing with the customer to maintain a full and accurate information flow.
• Documentation: Analyzing, documenting and reporting issues of customer returns. Ensure monthly all current service and OEM customers’ special requirement are up to date by forwarding latest revisions to Quality Facilitator.
• Support all departments as required.
• Responsible for overseeing Quality Engineers work schedules and act as back up customer support for customer needs.

Requirements

• Bachelors’ Degree in an Engineering or Business Discipline
• Previous quality management experience in an automotive manufacturing environment an asset
• ASQ/CQM or CQE Certification
• Sound knowledge of IATF 16949.
