GENERAL PURPOSE In a developing capacity and under direct supervision, applies basic engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques in support of business objectives and may provide fundamental engineering leadership and expertise. May conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates and develop engineering criteria. Performs primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. May apply originality, ingenuity, and knowledge of other disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ability to take good notes, showing work and assumptions. Ability to use originality and ingenuity to apply solutions. Applies basic engineering skills to work assignments. Applies basic problem-solving skills and executes solutions to basic problems. Applies basic supply chain cost, value stream capabilities, and economic principles. Completes engineering tasks under the direction of leadership. Follows engineering and quality processes. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. Seeks and receives mentoring from senior-level and engineering leadership. Seeks approval of budget owner using an appropriate request process. Works under direct supervision; work is reviewed after completion to evaluate the soundness of judgments involved. EDUCATION Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program 0-2 years of professional engineering experience SKILLS & ABILITIES Exposure to project management concepts may be essential for some assignments. Basic knowledge of Lean principles and application. Must be able to assess process concepts and determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist. Must be able to communicate effectively with people at various levels, including production, engineering, and management and to be able to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members. Basic knowledge in the use of standard office automation, communication, software and tools, Herman Miller mainframe applications, and engineering-related software. Must have basic problem-solving ability and be able to apply engineering expertise to problem-solving. At the direction of supervision must be able to effectively react to changing priorities and workflow and be able to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes that affect project plans. Must have an overall basic business sense and understand how decisions impact business results. Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation. Who We Hire?
