position summary
Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering principles and practices, with a specific focus on the design, analysis, and implementation of transmission and distribution projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will assist in producing a variety of engineering tasks to help our clients' projects succeed by pro-actively navigating and effectively managing issues and challenges that arise.
Flexible/hybrid work arrangements are available, as Merjent promotes this for self-sufficient professionals who can work and/or learn successfully in a remote work environment. The anticipated salary for this position is between $117,500 and $152,500, depending on qualifications and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe Electrical Engineer in transmission and distribution design is responsible for the following:
  • Design and analyze transmission and distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Develop and execute project plans for linear projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct electrical system simulations and modeling to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution, from initial planning through to commissioning.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, including design specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes in the power and electric sector.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout all phases of project development and execution.
Qualifications And ExperienceThe successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5-9 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transmission and distribution projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering software tools, such as PLS-CADD, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of national and international standards and regulations related to power transmission and distribution.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
