Site Supervisor

Position Title: Site Supervisor – Carrizo Site
Department: Child Care Program
Employment Status: Exempt Grade: E1
Opening Date: June 10, 2024 Closing Date: June 18, 2024
Hours: Will vary from the hours of 7:30am – 5:30pm

Job Summary
Ensures a safe, health and nurturing learning environment for all children. Provides day-to-day coordination
and leadership to staff at a specific site. Responsible for the administrative paperwork, scheduling, and staffing.
This position description may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which
may be found or assigned to this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Answers telephones, relays attendance or non-attendance calls, checks email, assists visitors, and
provides information.

Prioritizes, assigns, and schedules work activities and programs, monitors workflow, implements policies
and procedures, reviews and evaluates programs, methods and procedures.

Plans and implements projects; develops and establishes deadlines, goals, objectives, workflow, and
operational procedures; establishes, interprets, and enforces policy.

Oversees the daily supervision of child care in each classroom.
Monitors and assists with administration for staffing in the center, including but not limited to payroll,

time records, leave requests, attendance records, food program records, staff and child schedules.

Ensures program plans are developed to meet the social/emotional, intellectual, physical, language and

cultural needs of the various developmental groups served by the Child Care Center.

Schedules, prepares and/or presents Child Care in-services.

Monitors children to teacher ratio in each class; adjusts as needed to meet regulations.
Collects and participates in lesson planning and preparation of classroom activities; ensure supplies for

lessons and activities.
Completes and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
Ensure compliance with CACFP Food Reimbursement Guidelines.
Ensures providers maintain cleanliness of classroom toys, equipment, play, eating and diapering areas.
Ensures children’s immunization records are up to date.

Establishes positive and collaborative relationship with staff, parents and guardians.

Reports any signs of child abuse or neglect, in any form.

Opens and closes the child care site. Assists or fills in for staff at center as needed.

Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops,
writes, and presents program reports.

Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous
improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Site Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Two-year experience working with children and supervising.
Preferred Associates Degree in Business Administration/Early Childhood Development or 45-hour course

certificate.
Bilingual English/Apache preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
CPR and First Aid Certified.
Must obtain and maintain Food Handler’s Card.
Must be able to pass a physical exam within 45 days of hire.
Must have a valid NM Driver’s License.
Must be able to work a nine hour day with a lunch.
Must be willing to work an evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Tribal preference and Native American Indian preference shall apply to all positions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
Knowledge of principles and practices of early childhood development and care.
Knowledge of proper and safe food handling, storage, and disposal requirements.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
Skill in providing leadership to, supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows

environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets and database software programs.
Skill in nurturing, motivating, teaching and guiding children.
Ability to supervise and ensure a safe learning environment for children in a classroom setting.
Ability to use excellent communication skills with especially good listening skills.
Ability to respond to and remain claim in an emergency or crisis situations.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural

backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to respect the dignity of each family, culture, customs and beliefs.
Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with staff, parents, and community members
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or
feel; and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch,
or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; climb or balance; and smell. The employee
occasionally lifts children. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment
Work is generally performed in a childcare center, classroom environment and outdoors with high noise level. Exposure
to bodily fluids, urine, or feces of babies or infants and small children. Exposure to unpleasant odors and infectious disease.
Exposure to natural weather conditions and various dusts and mists may occur while performing outdoor duties. Evening,
weekend, and/or holiday work will be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
