Mesilla Valley Transportation is hiring a Network Administrator in El Paso, TX!Network AdministratorThe Network Administrator is responsible for establishing and maintaining network performance by designing configurations and connections, troubleshooting network problems, and ensuring the smooth operation of the company's network infrastructure. Key measures of success include implementing innovative workflow solutions, developing best practice standards for the Business Intelligence team, and demonstrating attention to detail in identifying and solving problems.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the networking environment by designing system configurations, directing system installations, and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Secure the network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
- Design and implement the company's Cisco Meraki network infrastructure, including configuring and managing wireless access points, switches, security appliances, and mobile device management systems.
- Monitor network performance and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide support to users, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation.
- Manage and allocate network resources, such as bandwidth and IP addresses.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of network upgrades and expansion projects.
- Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
- Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Ensure quick response and communication regarding security incidents, network plans, and emergency outages.
- Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further network enhancement.
- Perform periodic network firmware upgrades and diagnose problems with network equipment, performing repairs or upgrades as needed.
- Administer and maintain technical support accounts, permissions, and access rights to network infrastructure.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network-connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Assist with Help Desk Support Team members with understanding network principles.
- Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participate in professional organizations to stay updated on job knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of networking principles and technologies.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki products and systems.
- LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Performance Tuning.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with project management is a plus.
- Azure Networking experience (plus)
- Strong customer service skills and technical proficiency.
- Some travel may be required.
