Mesquite Independent School District is Hiring a Compensation Analyst Near Mesquite, TX

Primary Purpose
  • The purpose of this position is to administer the district’s compensation program ensuring that employee salaries remain competitive and equitable. Monitor compensation plan and job classifications for compliance with state and federal law and regulations.
Education/CertificationQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree (Business or Finance preferred)
  • TASBO Certified (Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, ERP systems, and other software
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing
  • Knowledge of general compensation including compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
  • 2 years experience in analysis, design, or administration of compensation programs (preferred)
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Develop and update district pay structures and stipend schedules.
  • Develop, document, and implement procedures for administering the district’s pay practices and ensure that procedures for placement of newly hired employees and employees who change assignments are applied consistently. Streamline processes to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Calculate salaries for new hires and assignment changes.
  • Work with other Personnel Services staff and supervisors to ensure accurate job descriptions for all district positions. Conduct job analysis to determine appropriate salary levels according to compensation guidelines. Review jobs to determine FLSA exemption status.
  • Coordinate the annual salary change process and monitor adjustments to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate and respond to salary review requests from district personnel.
  • Analyze and interpret data to determine competitiveness of district salaries. Identify and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Analyze compensation policies in relation to wage and hour regulations and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Participate in compensation surveys. Conduct surveys as needed to collect market data.
  • Work cooperatively with others to develop compensation budgets based on staffing projections.
  • Compile, maintain, and file related reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Maintain compensation records for all employees.
  • Respond to requests for verification of employment (VOE).
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to meet deadlines from multiple assignment requests on a frequent basis.
  • Communicating and working effectively with varied personalities while maintaining emotional control.
Physical Demands/environmental Factors
  • Intermittent walking, sitting and standing.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 lbs.
  • Reaching with hands and arms frequently repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion.
  • Working extended hours.
