Mesquite Independent School District is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Mesquite, TX

Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Payroll Specialist in the Business Services department. The appointee will report directly to the Payroll Manager and will assist in all facets of payroll administration, including setting up and maintaining data to allow the automated system to accurately process checks according to IRS, state, social security, and TRS guidelines. The person will work closely with personnel in the payroll and Business Services departments.
Qualifications: The Payroll Specialist will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent/Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who
  • demonstrate a working knowledge of public school accounting
  • have prior experience in accounting/payroll or a related field
  • understand accounting procedures and the budgetary process
  • have an understanding of IRS statutes, TRS statues and State statutes
  • have a knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other computer functions
  • demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills
  • possess strong analytical and organizational skills
  • have a service oriented personality
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Salary: Pay Range: Administrative/Technical Support (5); $20.60 to $30.29 (hourly); 226 day position
Employment begins: July 1, 2024
