Horizon Insurance Group is a division of Messer Financial Group, a Charlotte, NC-based insurance wholesaler/FMO. Since 2014, MESSER Financial Group has been ranked #1 by The Charlotte Business Journal as the area’s largest Independent Insurance Brokerage. We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated licensed insurance agent to join our team in the Philadelphia, Mississippi, area. In this position, you will play a vital role in assisting with the growth of the agency’s clientele base while selecting the right coverage options for our clients and ensuring they are well protected.

What you’ll do

· Secure and service renewal insurance by contacting the agency’s current clients and prospects. Account round based upon the individual client’s needs.

· Act as a field underwriter and authorized representative of the insurance carriers to determine if coverage should be bound. Binds coverage as appropriate.

· Provide service in an automated environment to current clients by informing and educating them concerning policy coverage and changes.

· Support client needs by accurately producing binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and other related items.

· Renew policies and remarket renewals according to agency standards. Process all information for accurate and efficient policy renewal. Work in conjunction with the other team members to maintain adequate retention levels.

· Assist clients in submitting claims as needed.

· Prepare summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals. Confirm necessary corrections between the client and the carrier are executed.

· Review cancellations and determine the reason for cancellation requests with an attempt to save accounts, as appropriate. Assure timely and accurate resolution to cancellation requests while maintaining the agency’s financial equity.

· Stay abreast of industry information, new products, legislation, coverage, and technology to continuously improve knowledge, performance, and service to clients.

Experience and Skills Needed

· Able to work independently with little or no direct supervision from management.

· Must possess sales and marketing skills.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain a professional, cordial, and effective relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and others.

· Able to understand written and oral communications and interpret abstract information.

· Able to carry out complex tasks.

· Proficient in using the internet, Microsoft Office suite, and online rating systems. Knowledge of EzLynx management system is preferred but not required.

· Property and Casualty Insurance License issued by the Mississippi Department of Insurance.

· Two – three years’ experience as a Client Service Agent or Account Manager.

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Strong understanding of insurance products, coverage options, and underwriting guidelines.

Compensation Hourly position with occasional overtime required as needed to meet workload and critical deadlines. Annual total compensation range of $43K – $45,700 based on experience, which includes a profit-sharing target of 10% of base compensation paid. Actual profit sharing amount paid is based on the company’s financial performance and individual’s contribution to company’s success.

Health and life insurance, dental, vision, critical illness, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with generous employer contribution of 8% of total compensation (3% Safe Harbor, and 5% profit sharing). Messer contributes to your 401(k) even if you don’t! We offer other ancillary insurance products, including Aflac products. Messer offers approximately 30 paid days off for first (full) year employees, which includes paid holidays, PTO, and sick time.

Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
