Metric Geo is Hiring a Distribution Planning Engineer Near Atlanta, GA

Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic individual with five or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution Design, Transmission Design, Distribution Line Construction, or Electrical Engineering to join a leading company in the industry. Our organization is made up of highly qualified professionals specializing in engineering, design, asset management, and construction management for the electric utility and other industries. With over 700 employees, we deliver comprehensive utility services across various regions.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing distribution equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining customer communications. The role requires proficiency in preparing design drawings, calculations, and bills of material using software such as AutoCAD, Map3D, Blue Beam, and ArcMap. Additionally, the candidate will implement engineering redlines accurately and conduct quality control checks.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with utility and construction personnel daily
  • Design distribution equipment and facilities accurately
  • Maintain customer communications and input project information
  • Ensure safety, construction standards, and local regulations compliance
  • Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material
  • Implement engineering redlines with accuracy
  • Conduct engineering calculations and quality control checks
  • Prepare joint utility use authorizations and work order maps
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution engineering software tools (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
  • Familiarity with local regulations, design codes, and standards (WAC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC)
  • Experience in drafting and design practices, engineering calculations, and quality reviews
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with general computer skills (email, Microsoft Office)
