Summary Description:

Reporting directly to the site Chief Nursing Officer and indirectly to the Administrative Director of Nursing Specialty - Perioperative Services for the market, the Director of Perioperative Services assumes leadership responsibility for the department's services, functions, and processes. This role involves influencing policy development, standardizing equipment, planning capital expenditures, and implementing quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Director coordinates the Joint Commission Survey Process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and revision of functional processes.
  • Approve procedures/protocols and seek necessary departmental approvals.
  • Oversee personnel actions, including hiring, termination, and disciplinary measures.
  • Monitor performance appraisals and provide input into organizational structure development.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and measure current to intermediate goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Implement external and internal audit recommendations and promote supplier diversity objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or related field. One degree must be in Nursing.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible clinical or management experience.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.

Skills Required:

  • Analytical ability to resolve complex administrative and technical issues, anticipate concerns, and recommend process improvements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including conflict resolution.
  • Broad technical knowledge of healthcare administration and operations.
  • Project management skills to define objectives, coordinate resources, and achieve goals.
  • Leadership abilities, including decision-making, coaching, and inspiring confidence in others.
