Primary Focus:
The estimator’s primary responsibility is to prepare construction estimates that focus on environmental and fuel facility related projects. The estimator is responsible to analyze projects, create take offs, utilize subcontractors/suppliers, and collaborate with the MES staff in order to produce an accurate and complete estimate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
· Prepare accurate and complete estimates for environmental and fuel facility related projects.
· Create accurate take offs for all phases of construction using material costs and labor breakdowns.
· Obtain prices from vendors and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services.
· Perform site visits and attends bid walks and pre-bid conferences as needed to determine site constraints, logistics, etc.
· Work with Junior Estimator to thoroughly complete bid packages.
· Responsible for proposal writing functions ensuring estimates are consistent, well-written, and complete.
· Prepare written correspondence and technical reports as required.
· Attend and contribute to weekly estimating meetings.
· Hold estimating transfer meetings for all awarded projects with the construction team.
· Contact clients, customers, and government representatives to discuss items relevant to the proposed work.
