Contact Mnps Director Of Athletics For Complete Description Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): Support and align athletic work among middle and charter school teams/students using district sports facilities in accordance with district policies. Reports to: Executive Principal Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities : List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Job Duty/Resp. 1Assists with supervision of staff, including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination. Implements policies approved by the Board of Education; enforces policies and procedures for student discipline, and protects students' rights Job Duty/Resp. 2Supports the visions and goals of the Athletic Director as well as organizes, plans and controls special projects as directed by the Athletic Director. Also maintains continuity in the Athletic department in the absence of the Athletic Director. Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director in a willing, cooperative, courteous and professional manner. Job Duty/Resp. 3Promotes good school and community relationships and also develops partnerships with the athletic departments of local colleges/universities to promote growth within Metro Schools Job Duty/Resp. 4Works with the Athletic Director to keep an accurate budget as well as assists in the development of athletic booster clubs, club by laws, and membership Job Duty/Resp. 5Works with the Athletic Director and coaches to organize routine information and stories of interest on various programs for public recognition of athletic achievements. Job Duty/Resp. 6Attends sporting events at middle and high schools on a regular basis and also organizes middle and high school professional development opportunities for all sports. Job Duty/Resp. 7Maintains records of team and individual athletic accomplishments for historical purposes. Job Duty/Resp. 8Works with middle school lead coaches in coordinating sports schedules and tournaments Responsibilities of Coaches: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Academics
Prepares, implements and monitors specific plans for the improvement of academic performance of athletes
Administration
Care of equipment and recommend equipment to be purchased
Plans and executes an effective budget
Organization of staff
Organization and schedule of practice
Schedule games and contests
Schedule, conduct and supervise daily practice during the assigned season; this should include teaching fundamental skills, team play, team strategy, and rules and regulations of the game
Select squad members, maintain team discipline and morale, and give necessary supervision and direction during contests
Communication with coaches
Adherence to Board of Education, TSSAA, and school philosophy and policies
Public relations
Provides for the proper supervision of students before, during and after practice/games/contests
Submits participation list on time and collects required forms (physical, insurance, and permission)
Promote the sport in the school and community
Prepare/Inspect playing area for safety and playability
