The Project Manager is responsible for leading medium to large cross-functional business transformation projects. They are responsible for projects from initiation through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals. You will motivate and manage project teams, identify and mitigate project risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. You will integrate Continuous Improvement principles with project management practices to enhance project outcomes. Conducting post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and applying these insights to future projects will drive continuous improvement across the organization.

In this role, you will be a key player in driving organizational success through effective project management and continuous improvement initiatives, positioning yourself for a rewarding and impactful career with us. As a critical member of our continuous improvement team, you'll work closely with various departments, building strong relationships and ensuring successful outcomes. You will have the opportunity to take on projects that support the organization’s strategic goals, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization.

Typical Duties
  • Manages and oversees the planning and implementation of medium to large cross-functional business transformation projects at Metro. Works with leadership to ensure projects align with organizational strategies and incorporate Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior leadership and project stakeholders, managing expectations, and ensuring needs are addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project change management efforts, applying the ADKAR methodology to manage the process effectively, ensuring high adoption and utilization rates.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage project teams. Often working across departments and divisions, works with impacted senior leaders to foster an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors project resources, ensures they are allocated efficiently, financial objectives are met, and projects are completed on budget. May work with the Comprehensive Planning department to provide updates on current and future spending.
  • Develops full-scale project plans including project schedules, deadlines, and determining critical milestones. Defines project tasks and resource requirements and communicates these to leadership to ensure project timing is not impacted by internal roadblocks.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks, implementing strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
  • Works with the Organizational Communications division to develop and maintain a communication plan, ensuring clear and timely communication with project teams, stakeholders, senior management, and employees.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess outcomes, identify lessons learned, and integrate insights into future projects for continuous improvement.
  • Support Metro’s capital funded Continuous Improvement program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge Of
  • Advanced knowledge of PMI (Project Management Institute) principles.
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma
  • Change management methodologies and their application in project environments.
Skilled At
  • Successful completion of medium to large cross-functional projects
  • Applying change management methodologies
  • Experience in utilizing project management software and tools.
  • Performing complex data analysis on projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Visio
  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey project status, reports, and presentations to stakeholders and senior management.
Ability To
  • To lead, motivate, and manage project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Work in a highly detailed manner that creates strong and clear organizational understanding of project progress
  • To integrate Continuous Improvement principles with Project Management practices for ideal project execution and results.

EducationBachelor’s degree in business, project management, engineering, or related field. PMP Certification. Equivalency equals one year of directly related professional experience for every year of education not completed.
