Metrocare Services is Hiring a Behavioral Stabilization Aide Near Dallas, TX

For over 50 years, Metrocare has provided a broad array of services to people with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state.

The Behavioral Stabilization Aide provides behavior support services to individuals who are dually diagnosed with an intellectual/developmental disability along with substance abuse, mental health issues, and/or severe behavioral concerns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job.

  • Ensures that individual behavior plans are followed while in the program.

  • Assists the individuals with activities related to daily living, including bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, eating, and assisting the consumer with ambulation and mobility.

  • Works with individuals of every age with behavioral health, mental health, and/or substance abuse issues in addition to IDD diagnosis.

  • Responds to and deescalates crisis situations in the program.

  • Offers educational group therapy sessions under the supervision of an LPHA.

  • Provides daily care to individuals, including behavioral monitoring and physical care.

  • Ensures the safety of the individuals.

  • Conducts habilitation activities that train individuals to develop or improve skills that allow the individuals to live more independently, develop socially valued behaviors, integrate into community activities, use natural supports and typical community services available to the public, and participate in leisure activities.

  • Assists with the administration of the individual's medication or performing a task delegated by a registered nurse.

  • Assists the registered nurse in monitoring the individual's health by reporting potential problems.

  • Completes housekeeping duties to ensure the Center is clean and orderly.

  • Maintains all documentation as required for company and state compliance within 24 hours of providing the service.

  • Maintains acceptable work record by being punctual to work and requests PL within acceptable time frames established by the supervisor to ensure adequate coverage is available in the home.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of behavioral health experience

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
