Description

Position Title: SUN Program Assistant

Reports To: SUN Site Manager

Dept/Program: Community Schools

FTE: Temporary (20 hours/week) Limited Duration

September 30th through December 15th

Status: Non-exempt

General Description:

Metropolitan Family Service position descriptions are guidelines. They are not intended to identify every task that an employee will be asked to complete. They are intended as a general outline of the essential work responsibilities and qualifications of the position.

This position is a limited duration position. It will begin in September 25th and ends on or before December 15th, 2024. This position does not offer benefits.

General Function:

Under the supervision of the SUN Site Manager, the Program Assistant is responsible for providing direct support to the day to day operations of the Middle School SUN program. The Assistant will support program , lead physical activities class, help with recruit families for the program, help to organize workshops and special activities under the direction of the Lead Program Coordinator.

Qualifications


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend supervision meetings with Lead Program Coordinator
  • Organize and maintain program file and documentation as required
  • Support all the activities planned by the Lead Program Coordinator.
  • Provide data and written reports as required
  • Administrate screenings and assessments and analyze the results
  • Provide information and assist with linkage to resources as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a preschool classroom
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding to guide Positive Behavior
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Experience facilitating parenting education
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with low-income families
  • Successful knowledge of and competency to operate a personal computer and utilization of the internet
  • Competency in using Word, Excel and various database programs
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong background in early childhood setting, child development, parenting education
  • Fluency and ability to communicate effectively (read, write and speak) in Spanish is preferred

Other Requirements:

Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.

MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check which includes a fingerprint background check. We review the results of all background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues that arise in a background check during the hiring process.

Work Environment:

Work is normally performed in an office environment and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires regular use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
