For detailed information regarding the 55-a Program, please visit the following link https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dcas/employment/55-a-program.page Compensation: Salary: $119,377 - $169,439 / Grade A (904 points) Responsibilities The General Superintendent is responsible for developing management strategies to effectively run the 24/7 maintenance/inspection/overhaul/emergency operations. The selected incumbents must ensure that the budget, productivity, shop equipment and facilities are maintained and the labor force is well equipped and trained to keep up with the changes in technology. The selected incumbents will direct and control all on-site emergency response activities ensuring the safety of passengers, employees and equipment, as well as returning trains to service. The General Superintendent oversees and monitor effective safety awareness, hazardous and biological waste programs to ensure compliance with TA, OSHA, AAR, and other mandated safety guidelines. The General Superintendent will evaluate and correct investigative procedures related to all accidents, including emergency dispatch vehicle procedures. In addition, the General Superintendent must be prepared to resolve management and labor disputes. Education/Experience A High School Diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years of transit experience, at least five (5) of which must have been in a supervisory and/or managerial position; or A satisfactory combination of education and experience. Desired Skills Knowledge of Car Equipment overhaul and/or maintenance shops practices/procedures. Material procurements/distribution, inventory control, budget control and quality control standards.
