Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team! As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for providing support to our accounting team in ensuring proper accounting treatment for all financial transactions and maintaining the financial integrity of our company.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for data reporting for all entities in the organization across all states in which the entities hold a license or permit and/or conduct business transactions.
  • Support control of legal costs by adhering to various due dates and frequencies of reporting which vary by state (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and annual) to avoid penalties and interest fees.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, half year and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance account reconciliations.
  • Generate and maintain process documentation for all required reporting states.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors (financial and state tax audit).
  • Prepare borrowing base certificate weekly.
  • Review current reporting methodology and processes to identify improvement opportunities, including automation where possible.
  • Assist in providing schedules and commentary for operational management account results and variances.
  • Respond to any inquiries and notifications received from federal and state regulators regarding transactional reporting.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 2 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Navision and Centerviews a plus.
  • Experience with tight deadlines and proven track record of meeting timelines with high accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, filters, etc.) required.
  • Experience in the wine industry and logistics is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to turn ideas into action.
