Employment Type: Full time Shift: Description: SUMMARY Responsible for the application of protective coatings and/or decorative wall coverings throughout the hospital complex. QUALIFICATIONS Education Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associates Degree Credentials/Licensure Minimum: 5 years’ experience Preferred: Certification in Painting Related Experience Minimum: One year experience in the application of paint and wall coverings including mixing, matching, and formulating colors. Preferred: Two to three years’ experience preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilitie Minimum: Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and trade specific equipment which can include airless sprayer, cup gun, High volume/Low pressure pot guns. Follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken. Preferred: Extensive experience performing special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing. Computer Competency Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job. Physical/Mental Minimum: Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sitting, squat, stand, twist, and walk. Possess ability to mentally concentrate while being subject to interruptions and changing work priorities. Must be able to work while being exposed to, infectious disease, dust and inclement weather, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, radiation, fumes/vapors, sharp instruments/tools, hazardous liquids, and operating machinery. Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors. Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, detect/distinguish odors. Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds and on occasion up to 100 pounds. Must be able to push or pull over 100 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Hospital environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Determines and performs corrective maintenance to coated surfaces including walls, ceilings, doors, frames, furniture, and equipment. Uses brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, cup gun, high pressure/low volume and pressure pot gun to apply coating. Installs, repairs, and replaces decorative wall coverings as required. Plans, coordinates, and completes all finishing projects to provide quality results at minimal expense. Mixes paints, stains, or coatings with dyes or pigments to match existing or proposed colors schemes and maintains records for future reference and matching of specified finishes. Performs surface preparation as needed which can include patching drywall, plaster, metal, and wood surfaces. Ensures all materials and methods meet standards set by all regulatory agencies. Responsible for correct setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized painting equipment. Interacts with hospital staff to schedule and complete maintenance procedures while minimizing interference to the operation of other departments. Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate. Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left out. Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills. Completes Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done. Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member. Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste. Performs other duties as assigned.
