Duties and Responsibilities
- Update patient demographics, verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and pre-authorizations for the following day's appointments.
- Maintain records, fill clinical providers' schedules, answer incoming calls, and accurately route messages.
- Ensure the patients receive dental care and personal attention in a timely and professional manner.
- Schedule appointments and follow-ups according to the dental clinic's reception manual.
- Call patients to confirm the following day's appointments by 10:00 am.
- Fill cancellations and no-show openings.
- Ensure that all appropriate forms are completed before services are rendered.
- Scan and attach forms to electronic dental charts.
- Manage and maintain the recall system.
- Set up daily patient transportation input information on NextGen before 2:00 pm.
- Ensure and protect client confidentiality by keeping information and dental records secure.
- Perform clerical and typing duties and provide secretarial support to the providers and Dental Manager, including faxing, referrals, correspondence, and minutes.
- Maintain the reception area professionally, clean, and tidy.
- Communicate clearly, listen accurately, open to feedback, handle conflict appropriately, and display sensitivity to others.
- Collaborate well with others while promoting cooperation and teamwork.
- Maintain the reputation and confidentiality of the health center and its clients.
- Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- High school degree, GED, or related.
- One (1) year experience in Dental office environment preferred.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Understanding of infection control.
