Title : Personal Care Attendant (Florida PACE Centers)

Job Summary

Performs participant care activities and other tasks as assigned to assist the Nursing and Therapeutic Recreation staff.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides basic nursing assistance to participants as established in department’s policies and procedures.( i.e. : toileting, feeding, transportation and bathing when needed)
• Documents treatments / procedures, observations, nursing care and participant care activities on appropriate forms per established department guidelines, when needed
• Takes assigned participants monthly weight and reports results to PACE dietician
• Ensures that resident’s / participant’s rights are adhered to
• Participates in departmental activities, multidisciplinary team meetings, department meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines as needed
• Completes monthly training in a timely manner
• Assists with monthly outings when assigned
• Participates in a structured rotation program that provides cross training for all PCA duties in the PACE program

Job Requirements

Education :

• High School Diploma preferred
• Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program

Experience :

• 3 months clinical experience as a CNA preferred
• Minimum one-year experience working with a frail / elderly population

Licenses / Certifications :

• Certified by the State of Florida as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
• Valid Florida Driver’s License & Proof of Insurance
• Current CPR Certification

Abilities Required

• Good communication skills
• Ability to speak read and write English and Spanish, knowledge of Creole a plus
• Ability to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job
• Demonstrates a caring attitude toward PACE participants, participants, family members, employees, and other facility guests

Functional Demands

Environment Work Conditions :

• Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; bio-hazardous waste; flammable, explosive gas
• Must be able to lift / turn participants

Infectious Material Exposure :

Routine exposure to blood / body fluids / tissues
