Position: Oncology Clinical Dietitian

Department: Oncology Support Services

Shift: Full-Time/ 80 HRS Per Pay Period/ 8AM-4:30PM

Facility: Miami Valley North

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree

Additional requirements:

Type of degree: dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or universityArea of study or major: Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics(ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Ohio Licensed, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Applicants that are registration eligible, with a limited permit to practice dietetics in the State of Ohio may be hired with the expectation of passing the registration exam and obtaining an Ohio license within 90 days of hire.Applicant are expected, upon completion of 2,000 practice hours in oncology and completion of needed continuing education credits, to become board certified in oncology.

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experiencePreferred experience: Experience in a clinical setting preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Solid knowledge of Clinical Nutrition with emphasis on nutrition needs of cancer patients.
  • Excellent counseling skills and the ability to relate to a multi-ethnic community and varied learning levels.
  • Ability and interest in developing and implementing nutrition education programs, developing tools to measure needs of patients and quality of services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships with multidisciplinary team, providing patients comprehensive care and with support of service departments.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer usage in the workplace and good verbal/writing skills.
  • Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process as it relates to the nutrition needs of cancer patients and the ability to apply all steps of the process.
  • Knowledge of the Assessment, Data, Intervention, Monitoring and Evaluation (ADIME) charting format or willingness to learn format.
  • Critical thinking to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observations.
  • Decision making, problem solving, and collaboration.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software
