The Miccosukee Police Department in conjunction with the Miccosukee Indian School is currently seeking a highly motivating driving instructor to teach high school Driver’s Education courses. This position has been established for the purpose of helping students develop driving skills and traffic safety knowledge in a safe, optimal learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge required to develop standards-aligned units of instruction that meet all student needs.
The ideal candidate must maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized learning environment conducive to optimal learning. The ideal candidate possesses good classroom management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a motivated disposition to achieve professional growth in a team-oriented school. Driving Instructor Duties and Responsibilities
· Instruct students on the many aspects of traffic safety (car control, defensive driving strategies, driving in adverse conditions, auto safety, etc.) for the purpose of developing driving skills and knowledge pertaining to safe driving.
· Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans.
· Maintain updated student records (grades, attendance, etc.)
· Communicate student progress with students, parents, and the school leadership team.
· Work collaboratively with various stakeholders (school personnel, parents, police traffic units, etc.) to support students in becoming safe drivers.
· Consistently assess and record student mastery in order to make data-driven instructional decisions.
· Deliver lessons using the assigned vehicle in a safe manner
· Participate in required professional development trainings, meetings, and seminars for professional growth.

Schedule: Monday – Friday (8 hours)
Education and Credentials:
· Bachelor of Arts in a related field (required)
· Current Florida Department of Education Professional Teaching Certificate
· Proficient/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
Contingent to Federal/State/Local Background Investigation and Drug Screen.
Salary $60,000 annually
