Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, which directly impacts the financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems.
• Ensure accurate medical billing by verifying patient information, insurance coverage, and coding accuracy.
• Process claims for reimbursement from insurance companies and government programs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed.
• Manage medical records efficiently while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to medical collections.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding is preferred.
• Familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and other relevant systems.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Experience with posting insurance payments.
• Experience with reconsiderations and appeals.
• Experience with verfying patient benefits coverage and determine patient responsibility.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $13.00 - $20.00 per hour
