About Our ClientOur client is one of the most well known names in Rochester, MN and across the region. They are known around the industry for their outstanding company culture and how they treat their people. They specialize in the Commercial space and are in need of an experienced Commercial Estimator to join their growing team.
Job DescriptionThe key responsibilities for a Construction Estimator are:
  • Review specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy, and marketing presentations as requested.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of certain sections and reviewing vendor quotations.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from prior projects as required.
  • Interface with Owner, A/E and /or subcontractors to provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates as needed by our clients
  • Participate in plan review and estimating reviews for prospective projects.
  • Understanding of construction specifications and blueprint reading.
  • Responsible for soliciting subcontractors/suppliers to ensure proper coverage.
  • Utilize and complete the subcontractor pre-qualification.
  • Identify and distribute documents to interested bidders.
  • Leadership during the design process through a design-assist process, value engineering opportunities, alternates and material replacements, new techniques/ideas/products, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Lead efforts to secure long lead subcontractors and materials
  • Work with Cities and Municipalities to identify and procure required permits.

  • BA/BS degree construction management, engineering, or 5 year(s) experience in the estimating or project management field.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Ground up project knowledge and experience preferred
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Sage, MS Project
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Interesting in mentorship opportunity
  • Quantity takeoff and cost estimate experience
