Description

  • Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work and identify materials and labor requirements.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overheads.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop and submit comprehensive bid proposals for mechanical projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements and company standards.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors, negotiate pricing, and select the most cost-effective and reliable options.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in project execution and incorporate contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies into estimates.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop preliminary project schedules, outlining key milestones, resource allocation, and critical path activities.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and address any concerns.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct post-bid reviews and analyze project costs to identify areas for improvement and enhance future estimating accuracy.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documentation for reference and audit purposes.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies to ensure competitive and accurate estimating practices.

Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., QuickBooks, ProEst, Bluebeam), MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project), and familiarity with CAD software.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and perform detailed cost analyses.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing estimates and bid proposals.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and procurement specialists.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) are a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
