TITLE: Preschool Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 12 semester hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Child Related Field AND 960 hours of experience in the field of Early Childhood.
• ZA or ZS Endorsement, BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred

• Experience working in a Preschool setting preferred
• Must meet all state licensing requirements
• Patient and flexible
• Basic computer proficiency
A working knowledge of child development theory, specifically as it pertains to the planning, preparation and execution of a developmentally appropriate 3 through 6-year-old preschool program.

REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

JOB GOAL: To plan, supervise and implement a developmentally appropriate early childhood preschool program.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning.
• Develop plans to meet the individual needs of the children.
• Plan and implement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills.
• Maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all children by using positive and consistent guidance techniques.
• Present expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level.
• Evaluate student and class progress on a regular basis.
• Design an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom.
• Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
• Protect the privacy of the families enrolled by observing the rules of confidentiality.
• Attend monthly meetings and training workshops.
Perform other duties as designed by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and Director of Early childhood.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months, Tuesdays and Thursdays – 8:45-12:45
