Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

In alignment with the mission, programs and initiatives of MSU Extension, delivers research-based information to program participants through various methods and / or provides support and coordination of MSU Extension programs.

  • Responsible for ensuring that volunteers carrying out the duties / functions in concert with any 4-H program are following all Extension and national 4-H procedures, record-keeping and expected behaviors.
  • Prepare and submit necessary information and documentation to ensure adherence to MSU Extension administrative policies, procedures and deadlines.
  • Provide information and opportunities for learning through the use of accessible technology, mass media, group meetings, workshops and individual contacts.
  • Provide local leadership in strengthening public understanding that 4-H is for all youth.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Term : Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call.

On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in youth and / or program development and management.
  • Volunteer management and experience supervising volunteers or others.
  • Non-formal education teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to diverse audiences / communities and proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, color, gender, national origin, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, veteran status, socioeconomic class, and other differences.
  • Proficiency in use of technology (e.g., web research, Zoom, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for mail / calendaring, distance technology, etc.).

  • Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.
  • This position is currently remote work from home.
