Description

Job Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University, located in Olathe Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Mathematics. The position is a full-time faculty appointment. Candidates for this position should be able to demonstrate a commitment to higher education delivered with a Christ-centered worldview, a strong commitment to the servant leadership model, and be able to successfully perform the following responsibilities.

Position Description:

  • Teach a variety of mathematics courses to include but not limited to: Statistics, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra.
  • Advises students in course selection and career/graduate school planning.
  • Provides leadership for the Math degree with the department of Natural, Health, Mathematical Sciences and assists the Department Chair with program management tasks.
  • Engages in program growth strategies. Department is interested in focusing on pre-engineering pathways of study.
  • Attends recruiting events to increase awareness of the MNU Math program.
  • Supports and oversees mathematic adjunct professors to ensure quality instruction
  • Collect and maintain mathematic program learning outcomes
  • Collaborates with Physics and Computer Science to support programming and create a student culture.
  • Serves on department and university committees.
  • Works collegially with departmental and cross campus faculty.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. A master’s degree in a relevant field may be acceptable.
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Capability and desire to mentor and guide undergraduate students
  • A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other educational environments, including mentoring students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, both within the department, and across the institution.
  • Desire and ability to teach through experiential learning activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective teaching, mentoring, and advising.
