Mid Michigan Leadership Academy is Hiring an Instructional Math Coach Near Lansing, MI

Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy is currently hiring an Instructional Math Coach. Must have a teacher certification. 

We are looking for Teachers who are motivated, creative, flexible, and possess strong organizational and student management skills as well as determination to foster academic achievement for all students in an urban setting.

Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Instructional Coach with a focus on Math to join our team. The Instructional Coach will support and enhance the instructional practices of our 26 teachers, with the goal of improving student achievement in mathematics across grades K-8. The successful candidate will provide professional development, model effective teaching strategies, and collaborate with teachers to implement high-quality math instruction

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional Development:

    • Plan and deliver ongoing professional development sessions focused on effective math instructional strategies and curriculum implementation.

    • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in math education to ensure the school's instructional methods are up-to-date and effective.

  • Coaching and Support:

    • Work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers to provide instructional coaching, including classroom observations, feedback, and co-teaching opportunities.

    • Assist teachers in analyzing student data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.

    • Provide resources and support for differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Curriculum and Instruction:

    • Collaborate with teachers to develop and refine math curriculum and instructional materials.

    • Ensure alignment of math instruction with state standards and school-wide goals.

    • Model effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques in math instruction.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Foster a collaborative culture among teachers, promoting a shared vision for student success in math.

    • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on math instruction and student achievement.

    • Communicate regularly with school leadership regarding instructional needs, teacher progress, and student performance.

    • Collaborate with ELA Instructional Coach to develop strategies to build cross-curricular connections between subject areas

  • Assessment and Data Analysis:

    • Support teachers in the use of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.

    • Help teachers interpret and use data to set goals, plan instruction, and implement interventions.

    • Track and analyze school-wide math performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field required.

    • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Mathematics preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics.

    • Prior experience as an instructional coach or in a similar leadership role is highly desirable.

  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of K-8 mathematics content and pedagogy.

    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions.

    • Proficiency in integrating technology into math instruction.

    • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire teachers and students.
