GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB This full-time, 12-month position provides academic and administrative leadership for the Radiography Department. The Radiography program is a 24-consecutive month didactic and clinical education program, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Environmental Safety and Health, Bureau of X-ray Compliance. This role also works collaboratively with Radiography full-time and part-time faculty and staff, as well as the Middlesex College community, to provide a high-quality learning environment for students.
Essential Functions SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hires, supervises, schedules, and evaluates full-time and part-time faculty and staff. Maintains professional credentials via continuing education and professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and assesses learning outcomes for the Radiography program and courses. Works with faculty on development of new strategies for supporting student success, and provides academic advising for Radiography students.
  • Coordinates and participates in recruitment and retention initiatives. Collaborates with outside agencies for student learning opportunities, specifically externships for Radiography students.
  • Creates academic course schedules and assigns full-time and part-time faculty course loads. Facilitates and supports professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Ensures the maintenance and security of laboratory facilities, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensures that the College is following accreditation standards with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, JRCERT, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), New Jersey Bureau of Radiation Protection, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Provides and coordinates responses to requests for reports related to these agencies’ as part of maintaining accreditation.
  • Ensures that all course offerings meet the needs of adult learners and updates behavioral objectives to include newly established imaging techniques.
  • Teaches up to three (3) courses per academic year with the approval of the Division Dean and substitutes as needed.
  • Conducts exit interviews with all graduates as required for program assessment and accreditation and licensure applications; provides verification of program completion and written documentation for submission to the ARRT and state agencies for all graduating students so that students are eligible to sit for the national board examination.
  • Develops reports and budget plans for the Radiography program and provides oversight and management, ensuring fiscal responsibility and effective allocation of resources to support departmental goals. Develops and maintains contractual agreements with hospital administrators regarding student experience programs and oversees onboarding processes required by clinical affiliates.
  • Approves student course and program changes, and provides for the advisement of students while assisting in the orientation of students.
  • Informs Registrar of changes to the Radiography curriculum and catalog description for the Radiography program and assists with the evaluation of transfer credits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in science, health, health education, or other relevant discipline;
  • Three (3) years’ experience teaching at the college level;
  • Three (3) years’ administrative and supervisory experience;
  • Experience with assessment and the JRCERT accreditation process;
  • Experience working in a facility with diagnostic radiography equipment;
  • Active member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
  • Licensed New Jersey Radiologic Technologist (NJLRT);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office; and
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in science, health, health education, or other relevant discipline;
  • Five years’ (5) experience teaching at the college level;
  • Previous experience as an administrator in a Radiography program;
  • Experience working with a diverse student population; and
  • In-depth knowledge of radiation safety requirements and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Bureau of Radiation Protection Administrative Codes.
Physical RequirementsThe work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Visual Acuity: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION SCHEDULE : Full-time, twelve (12)-month position
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
RETIREMENT : Pension Eligible
