Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
• If assisting with the instruction: Knowledge of subject matter being taught.

 Position Function/Purpose

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Classroom and School Environment

Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable.

1. Contribute to a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and positive rapport. 
2. Manage student behavior during instruction, transitions, and less structured time (e.g., recess, lunch).

Instruction

1. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials.
2. Tutor small groups and individuals, under the direction and use the tools/rubrics of the supervising teachers.
3. Supervise and support students during instruction, group work, independent work, etc.

Professional Responsibilities

1.  Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisors and team members to improve professional skills.
2. Maintain administrative duties on behalf of the teacher as needed (such as taking attendance, entering grades, scheduling parent conferences/parent communication, preparing student activities and assignments, checking homework, additional paperwork).
3. Participate in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and special events as needed.
4. All other duties are assigned by the teacher or administrator.

Qualification Requirements

• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
