Midland States Bank is Hiring a Director, Lending Operations Near Fallon, MO

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Director of Lending Operations will have primary oversight of Loan Servicing, Loan Booking, Document Preparations, Loan Funding, Default/Collections, Multifamily Servicing Modification and Asset Management, Government Sponsored Entities (GSE) Relationship Management, Document Retention, and Investor Reporting. Responsibilities include Operational Leadership with a focus on departmental execution and performance management including but not limited to designing, developing, and implementing strategies and tactics to improve internal and external customer satisfaction, reducing processing times, and developing and delivering reporting, tracking, and measurement systems to ensure high quality and production results. The Director- Lending Operations is expected to build team morale, attract new talent as needed, and ensure close coordination and communication within all areas of the bank across multiple sites. This position is a leadership role.

Primary Accountabilities

People

  • Manages a team of professionals in a customer-centric culture to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coaches, develops, and conducts performance management activities with direct and indirect reports.
  • Identifies high-potential employees for advanced training and development opportunities.
  • Effectively manages poor performers.
  • Manages a team of professionals in an environment that has extensive interaction with complex systems and strict regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that the individuals in the department are adequately trained in the support of the bank’s products and programs in order to efficiently and effectively provide customer service while minimizing risk to the bank and its customers.

Process

  • Collaborates with IT to execute robotic processing automation and other digital solutions that enable efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages complex technical and business activities that have high operational, reputational and financial risk within various areas of bank operations.
  • Manages and leads teams who controls a variety of systems, software applications and the vendors who provide these services.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology to implement new technologies to improve business processes.
  • Leads collaboration with Legal, Risk and Compliance to quickly and accurately interpret governing regulations of the banking and lending space and ensures organizational compliance throughout all of operations.
  • Identifies vendors and relationships that can progress the goals and initiative of the bank and be engage in activity to support contract negotiations and monthly oversight of vendors associated with key operational processes and activities.
  • Establishes and manages to Operational budget and control expense management within departments.
  • Oversees departmental adherence to all applicable laws and regulations including but not limited to Reg E, Reg D, BSA, NACHA, Unclaimed Property state and federal laws.
  • Responsible for managing Quality Assurance compliance productivity results for the operations group and other internal business units for the enterprise.
  • Escalates in a meaningful and expedient way appropriate compliance and regulatory concerns.

Strategy

  • Develops and executes strategic plans and tactics for the lending operations team.
  • Leads initiatives to create operational efficiency and high levels of customer service.
  • Develops and leads financial analysis, risk management, capacity modeling, and mergers and acquisition activity for the team.
  • Successfully reconciles and resolves events and ETRs within the enterprise risk management and audit framework.
  • Collaborates with leaders across the business to ensure success of key performance indicators, operational and risk metrics.

Other

  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of demonstrated experience in bank operations management, with a focus on lending preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and regulatory issues pertaining to bank operations.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading teams with demonstrated success coaching and motivating team members.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, and write reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Experience in data analysis and driving performance through data.
  • Lean Management, IT and/or operational automation experience is preferred.
  • Agile methodologies training / background is preferred.
