Midwest Cardiovascular Institute is Hiring a Cardiac Sonographer ( Part Time) Near Naperville, IL

$1,000 sign-on bonusNature of Duties:Independently performs a variety of routine and advanced cardiac ultrasound duties associated with an invasive, non-invasive, and interventional cardiovascular practice.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of studies at an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound school, completion of X-Ray school with post ultrasound training, completion of cardiopulmonary school with post ultrasound training, or completion of Bachelor’s degree with post ultrasound training.
  • ARDMS or CCI registry in Cardiac Ultrasound. Eligibility will be considered.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) is required.
  • Good communication skills.
Specific Duties:
  • Operates ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images and blood flow data following established cardiac protocols. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Deciphers normal from abnormal in order to obtain appropriate tests and to show any abnormality in its entirety. Has knowledge of cross-sectional as well as sagittal anatomy and is familiar with normal and abnormal flow characteristics to evaluate for optimal testing quality.
  • Informs patient of the test to be performed, reviews clinical data from the medical record and patient interview, and performs appropriate examination. Records appropriate patient information, completes work sheet on each patient, and records initial impression to aid in diagnosis. Reviews study with the physician, clarifies any discrepancies, and performs additional testing if necessary.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and remains current in the field of cardiac technology by reading appropriate technical journals and participating in educational programs and becoming registered in the field of cardiac technology (RDCS, RCS) and maintaining that status.
  • Helps coordinate patient scheduling. Maintains good rapport with the patient, ensuring cooperation during the procedure. Maintains a safe environment for the patients. Maintains patient comfort with positioning, pain medication, etc.
  • Create accurate and complete electronic ultrasound reports in the electronic medical record (EMR) on studies and enter appropriate electronic messages to other departments to assist with patient flow and documentation of patient wait times.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures that proper supplies are available. Prepares examination room for the patient and regularly restocks with linen and other required supplies. Maintains test equipment in clean working condition including the cleaning of the unit, screens, control board, camera, video processor, and probes.
  • Keeps open lines of communication with field service engineers to keep all equipment functioning at the highest level.
  • Provides clinical training for others when needed.
  • Assist in staffing other clinics and departments when needed.
  • Performs all other related duties as directed. (e.g., Escorts patient to the next station: next testing area, review with physician, or check-out) and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of CIS and in concordance with its patient philosophy.

  • Keeps work area neat and organized. Reports safety issues to team leader immediately.
  • Works efficiently and manages time wisely. Assist other employees when all duties are complete.
  • Communicates any problems, difficulties or concerns regarding job duties to the team leader.
  • Performs all duties without significant error occurring with any regularity.
  • Meets all deadlines and timeframes for completion of assignments.
  • Represents CIS in a professional manner at all times. Demonstrates acceptable ability to interact with physicians, staff (“internal customers”) and “external customers” (patients, family members, insurance companies, home health etc.) on a professional level at all times. Exhibits good communication skills with physicians, patients, team leaders, and co-workers at all times.
  • Exhibits whenever possible a harmonious relationship with other CIS employees in order to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position. While perfect harmonious relationships with all employees is sometimes not achievable, not more than an occasional complaint should be received by the team leader about the incumbent of this position.
  • The employee shall work and relate cooperatively with all other employees (internal customers) of CIS to assure optimum care for the patients of CIS and to achieve standards of care set forth by the CIS medical staff.
  • Adheres to the CIS Compliance Plan as it pertains to the above specific job duties. Uses best efforts to maintain compliance by following the CIS Corporate Compliance Plan, attending CIS compliance education, following medical documentation guidelines, and communicating concerns regarding compliance issues.
  • Performs accurate and complete documentation in the patient’s medical record, when applicable. This includes documentation in both the paper record and the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Work with the electronic medical record (EMR) staff to maintain quality and work towards future EMR development.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality according to the HIPAA standards of privacy and security.
