Midwest Disability is Hiring an Associate Attorney Near Minneapolis, MN

Midwest Disability, a Disability Law Firm based in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, is looking for an Associate Attorney for our Workers Compensation and Long Term Disability department. We represent injured workers in workers’ compensations claims and disabled employees in claims for Long Term Disability benefits

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend depositions, conferences, mediations, and hearings
  • Review medical evidence and case facts; address issues as needed
  • Dictate memos
  • Research legal issues
  • Speak with clients, QRCs, opposing counsel, mediators, arbitrators, and judges
  • Write pleadings, discovery, and correspondence to clients and the court
  • Direct staff on case preparation needs and act as a resource concerning Workers Comp and LTD processes and procedures
  • Promote and provide an exceptional level of representation to our clients. Display a willingness to empathize with our clients’ needs, to dedicate the time needed to properly resolve all inquiries and ensure clients’ satisfaction with our services provided.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • J.D. and admission to the MN Bar Association required.
  • 0-2 years of prior experience.
  • Strong work ethic and high expectations for personal and employee performance.
  • Able to work under pressure and follow through on commitments.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities on a regular basis.
  • Able to express ideas clearly and concisely, and adapt messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasionally required to stand.
  • Occasionally required to walk.
  • Continually required to sit.
  • Continually required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Continually required to talk or hear.
  • The noise level in the work environment usually is quiet.
