Position Summary:The Group Leader/production supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Responsible for the management functions of a fast-paced high technology lean based machining operation. Accountable for the efficient use of people and resources to achieve financial and operational goals for the department.
Work You’ll Do:
  • Resolve employee issues through problem resolution, recommend employment decisions, ensure effective employee relations and provide employee coaching and development.
  • Maintains day to day responsibilities of work scheduling, quality, track absenteeism and timekeeping and interfacing with other supervisors and managers as needed to meet the production schedule.
  • Ensures that Lean principles are being applied with the right goal in mind: To sustainably maximize the delivery of value to the customer.
  • Empowers others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization.
  • Evaluates the quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis.
  • Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of his/her own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Creating platforms to drive optimization and continuously improve 4 core areas of quality, safety, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
  • Develops and implements manufacturing methods, quality standards, and perform cost analysis to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Ownership of training and technical development of employees including performance reviews, frequent feedback, and setting of goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and directs implementation of improvement opportunities by securing relevant information, asking effective questions, and developing solutions.
  • Resolves problems relating to materials, operations, quality or other factors that may result in production delays.
  • Interacts with applicable engineering staff on piece part design, process development and improvement.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Manage department priorities and other duties/projects as assigned.
Team:This position manages all employees of the department and/or shift and is responsible for the performance management and accountability of the employees within that department and/or shift.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of relative experience w/ high school diploma or equivalent, or combination of both education and experience.
  • Demonstrated Leadership, Business and Financial understanding
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and provide feedback
  • Solid computer and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing principles, MRP
  • Constraint management, ISO, systematic problem solving, BBS
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing background within a plant and operational managerial experience from a production / manufacturing setting preferred.
