Position Title: Part-Time Maintenance Person First Line Report: Operations Supervisor Second Line Report: Operations Manager Employee Status: Part-Time
Starting Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Summary : The Part-Time Maintenance Person, under the general direction of the Operations Supervisor, is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and janitorial tasks within the MetroParks. It is the responsibility of the Part-Time Maintenance Person to complete all assigned duties, tasks, instructions and/or work orders in a safe, efficient and timely manner. This position is suitable for transitional duty. Primary Responsibilities General Maintenance and Repair...… 80%
Perform general lawn and landscape maintenance and upkeep (mowing, blowing, weed whipping, etc.)
Assist with maintenance and construction work
Perform janitorial services including cleaning of buildings and restrooms/pit toilets
Complete litter pick-up at facilities, picnic areas and roadsides
Assist with basic painting, carpentry and repair work
Perform routine inspections on buildings, trails, facilities and bridges
Perform road, trail, parking lot and walkway maintenance including repair and snow/ice removal
Assist with forestry work to include tree removal/clean up and storm damage clean up
Equipment Operation...… 10%
Operate project specific vehicles and equipment including but not limited to: park vehicles such as non-CDL trucks, utility vehicles, snowplows, lawn mowers and other large equipment; power tools and hand tools
Clean, maintain and inspect equipment
Perform minor equipment maintenance
Departmental Functions...… 10%
Provides intra-department support
Keep supervisors informed of essential issues and report disturbance to proper authorities
Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, visitors, renters and vendors
Other duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Regular and predictable attendance
Must be able to maintain a continuous positive attitude and professional appearance
Knowledge of current industry standard practices, trends, techniques, laws, regulations and best practices within the fields of general maintenance and construction
Ability to work with the public and other staff members in a friendly, professional manner and maintain a courteous demeanor
Ability to operate various types of maintenance tools, equipment and vehicles
Education/Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in general maintenance or construction experience involving various trades for both interior and exterior project types is preferred
Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform Job Functions
Must be physically able to perform all tasks inherent to the position
Ability to see, hear and effectively communicate with others
Ability to read and interpret plans, details, specifications and operating manuals
Ability to walk, traverse or otherwise access trails of all types, natural terrain, construction sites and all properties under control of Mill Creek MetroParks under all types of conditions
Must be accessible and available on short notice for emergency call-outs
Ability to perform physical labor in indoor and outdoor environments in cold and heat
Ability to work from different degrees of height by using stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
Ability to lift over 50 pounds
Ability to use common cleaning products and disinfectants
Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop and walk for lengthy periods of time and walk up/down stairs, ladders, etc.
Hand dexterity; ability to pull, push, reach and grab freely
Job Requirement The Part-Time Maintenance Person is required to be available as the situation warrants. Events may require working evenings, weekends, holidays or other times outside of what is considered a normal schedule.
