- Perform area “walk through” to assess Press Operator needs and prevent press downtime.
- Ensure that staged raw stock is easily accessible.
- Ensure that printed product is moved, in a timely fashion, out of the press working area.
- Mix and replenish pressroom chemicals, as needed and ensure that chemicals, fountain solution, etc. are available in ample supply for press shifts, which are not manned with a pressroom helper.
- Prepare jobs for delivery to: Next press, Bobst Die Cutters and Distribution, including proper aerating, flipping and repiling of loads.
- Remove scrap and waste from the pressroom.
- Perform inventory counts on needed supplies.
Basic QualificationsCapabilities & Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety and operational instructions, procedures, and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions and operational procedures.
- Problem-solving and analysis abilities involving concrete variables in standard situations.
- Computer Skills Basic computer skills are necessary to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedules, and communicate electronically via email.
- Effective time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to interpret product layouts and production specifications
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure and measurements with speed and accuracy.
- Minimum of one year of experience with commercial printing press, preferably in folding carton packaging.
- Mechanical background preferred.
- At least 1 year of paperboard folding carton industry or similar print/packaging experience.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and dice. The employee is frequently exposed to humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
