As a DBA, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of MRP’s databases. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that support our business applications and operations. The DBA ensures data is stored efficiently, securely, and can be retrieved quickly, contributing to the overall success of the company’s IT infrastructure.
A Day In The LifeThe System Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers.
Database Management
- Install, configure, and maintain database software and servers.
- Design and implement database schemas, tables, procedures, and permissions utilizing industry best practices.
- Monitor database performance and tune for optimal efficiency and performance.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
- Ensure data integrity by implementing and maintaining data quality standards.
- Develop and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor database systems for errors and perform troubleshooting as needed.
- Regularly review database performance metrics and optimize queries and indexing.
- Work with developers to design efficient database structures and queries.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
- Provide support for database-related issues and assist end-users and application developers.
- Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to support new and existing applications.
- Participate in the development lifecycle, offering database expertise to project teams.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools.
- Collaborate with end users to create and maintain business analytics.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology (IT), or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years in an IT role with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator, or in a related role.
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and data warehousing.
- Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with database security practices and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Shell) for automation.
- Knowledge of SQL Service Integration Services (SSIS) tools and report development.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Utilizes a customer service-oriented approach internally and externally.
- Has a positive can-do attitude and never says “that’s not my job”.
- Solid communication and intrapersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to database management.
- Demonstrated ability to be agile in response to changing business and technology dynamics.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
- Familiarity with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other aspects of IT.
- Experience supporting an industrial manufacturing organization, preferably printing, packaging or related industries to Mill Rock’s core business.

- Competitive compensation. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,000-130,000.00. Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
