How You Can Make An ImpactAs a Die Cutting Operator, you will be responsible for all activities associated with the set-up, make ready, operation, cleanup and order documentation of the die cutting machines in the facility. This is a fast-paced role where you will leverage your problem-solving abilities and respond quickly to continually changing priorities as you coordinate multiple projects. You will have a critical role in the plant as you will help to ensure the safe and quality cutting of folding carton products.
A Day in the Life
  • Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a die cutting machine.
  • Set up of press and make ready of jobs.
  • Stage all materials for next job on press (printed sheets, cutting die, plate and blanking tools).
  • Monitor sheets while job is running.
  • Transport die cut loads to Gluing and Stripping staging areas.
  • Conduct routine maintenance.
  • Help maintain organization of plates and cutting dies.
  • Assist in process improvement/waste reduction techniques.
  • Follow all departmental policies, safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow all good manufacturing policies as they relate to food safety
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, on-site position on second shift (3:00PM-11:00PM Eastern Time Monday-Friday). However, changes in manufacturing needs and schedules may necessitate a change to the original agreed upon hours, or the working of additional, overtime hours. Every effort will be made to give advance notice of any permanent changes.
Basic QualificationsCapabilities & Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • At least 1 year of paperboard folding carton industry or similar print/packaging experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience operating a die cutter machine.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety and operational instructions, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions and operational procedures.
  • Problem-solving and analysis abilities involving concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Computer Skills Basic computer skills are necessary to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedules, and communicate electronically via email.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to interpret product layouts and production specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure and measurements with speed and accuracy.

Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and dice. The employee is frequently exposed to humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
