Job Summary
As an Avionics & Harness Technician Sr. Working Lead, you will oversee the A&H team's daily activity, working side by side with team members serving as a focal for support, providing guidance and instruction as needed. You will work hands-on with space hardware building high-quality wiring/cable harnesses for spacecraft installation and translating designs into reality. Your skill and attention to detail will translate directly to on-orbit mission success.
This position's internal job code is Avionics and Harness Technician Sr. Working Lead. Our team is currently hiring for Grade 24.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, assembly procedures, test procedures, etc.
  • Mentor and support cross-training for members of the team.
  • Fabricate high-quality wiring harnesses, test racks/boxes and electro-mechanical assemblies for
  • spacecrafts and ground systems.
  • Oversee all activities within the team.
  • Strategically leverage available resources to execute the priorities provided by the Production Manager (or delegate) and regularly report on status.
  • Identify and support implementation of improvement initiatives to increase throughput, improve efficiency, and reduce defects.
  • Decide how to approach tasks and develop a plan to accomplish them.
  • Report and communicate with production managers daily.
  • Work with engineering to define and refine standard operating procedures
  • Distribute information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Confer with production managers regarding any anticipated production problems/constraints.
  • Task technical personnel in consideration of priorities, bandwidth, skillsets, etc.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repair of harnesses and test rack equipment to maintain uptime
  • Coordinate with management to ensure all tools and hardware necessary to support production are available and in working order.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years experience as a technician in aerospace or equivalent high-reliability field to J-STD-001 space, NASA.STD.8739.4
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience using hand tools, repairing and troubleshooting electronic components
  • Ability to read schematics, harness wiring diagrams, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, circuit layouts, and parts lists
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Applicants must pass a soldering and crimping test
  • Experience working in a clean room
  • Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer applications for work documentation
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times
  • Able to work 2nd shift

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
  • Experienced with all MS Office software
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in-process verify of work (2PV)
  • Knowledge of various wire harness tools to include manual and pneumatic crimpers is preferred

Summary Pay-Range

  • Grade 24: $27.93 - $44.71
