Miller Waste Mills is Hiring a Production Lead - 2nd Shift - Miller Waste Mills Near Fremont, IN

Since 1923, Miller Waste Mills has been a leader in “recycling and reusing”, diverting textile materials that were destined for landfills into useful, reclaimed fiber materials. Employees of Miller Waste Mills are proud to be a part of a company that focuses on recycling textiles like wool sweaters, cotton shirts, denim jeans, used clothing and fabric scraps. Our team processes these items into reclaimed fibers, which are then reused for oil filtration, metal polishing, furniture staining, automobile linings, and other applications.

Miller Waste Mills operates textile processing facilities in Winona, MN, and Fremont, IN. Miller Wates Mills also does business as RTP Company. RTP Company is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics headquartered in Winona, Minnesota.

The Production Lead takes direction from the Plant Manager. The Production Lead is accountable for providing day-to-day technical direction of an assigned production team.

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM Monday - Thursday

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Plant Manager, leads production staff in daily activities
  • Administers training for new employees as well as long term employees on the production team
  • Provides feedback to the Plant Manager to assist in performance evaluations of staff
  • Projects raw and finished material needs for given time periods
  • Works to minimize product loss and production-related waste
  • Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Assists in the maintenance of equipment by effectively communicating issues or any potential problems
  • Communicates with Warehouse support groups to maintain appropriate production schedules
  • Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
  • Must be able to operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must have strong interpersonal, training, and coaching skills
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Must maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to pass a forklift test and a respirator fit test
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Education and Experience

  • Required previous manufacturing experience related to MWM production operations
  • Preferred previous supervisor experience
  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred forklift experience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Regularly

  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment
  • Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts

Frequently

  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles

Occasionally

  • Sit
  • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection

  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
