Job Summary/Basic Function
As a Millersville Orientation Leader, you become part of a team working collaboratively to welcome and orient incoming students to the Millersville University community at the start of the fall semester.
Required Qualifications

  • A record of involvement in clubs, civic organizations, and/or organized athletics.
  • Work well within a team and take the initiative when necessary.
Job Duties
  • During Orientation programs, in-person and online, welcome and acclimate new students to the campus.
  • Promote interaction among groups of new students by facilitating icebreakers and small group discussions on college transition-related concerns and opportunities.
  • Lead campus tours, share personal stories, and identify important campus locations for students.
  • Engage with a diverse and energetic team of student leaders.
  • Communicate with incoming students via social media and mailing campaigns as requested.
  • Perform assigned logistical tasks related to orientation activities including check-in, check-out, placement of signage, stuffing student folders, managing student luggage, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of Orientation activities and materials.
  • Uphold and enforce all aspects of the University conduct code and address inappropriate behavior among students and/or guests attending programs.
  • Participate in training activities including the OL Spring Training Day and the two-week summer training provided in August before EPPIIC Weekend.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students by demonstrating a commitment to a healthy balance of academic and social life and the EPPIIC values of the University.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • High temperatures.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Orientation 2024 will occur both online during the summer and in-person as part of the late August EPPIIC Weekend. OLs will host three online sessions, one each in June, July, and August. OLs will return to campus on August 11 and participate in training from August 12-August 21. OLs will then assist with the New Student Orientation/EPPIIC Weekend from August 22 through August 25, 2024.
Previous experience is not required, only a passion for Millersville University and serving others.
