Job Summary/Basic Function
The Office of Visual & Performing Arts, based at the Ware Center in Lancaster City, is seeking students to assist with a variety of tasks associated with the front desk operations. Positions being offered include 2 student workers and 1 student manager.
Required Qualifications
Experienced with Microsoft Office
Skilled in basic math
Able to multi-task
Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Accurate and attentive to detail
Customer-service oriented
Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints)
Preferred Qualifications
For the worker’s position, previous experience in a customer-facing office setting is desirable.. For the manager’s position, previous experience at the Ware Center or in main campus box office operations is desirable.
Job Duties
Student worker’s position $9.00 :
Provide exemplary customer service for Ware Center guests including Millersville University administrators, professors, and students; answer questions and refer them to the appropriate staff member
Act as ticketing agent in person or by phone, handling cash, checks and credit cards
Answer telephone, direct callers, and transfer calls
Distribute appropriate parking passes when requested for event guests
Assist with craft activities table at First Friday events
Assist with ARTWALK weekends in October and May
Assist with marketing and business operations as requested
Perform other duties as assigned
Manager’s position $10.00 :
Work with the Office Coordinator to schedule student workers
Supervise and support student workers with their front desk responsibilities
Provide exemplary customer services for Ware Center guests including Millersville University administrators, professors, and students; answer questions and refer them to the appropriate staff member
Act as ticketing agent in person or by phone, handling cash, checks and credit cards
Answer telephone, direct callers, and transfer calls
Relay information from professors to students in case of delay or cancellation of classes
Distribute and collect student evaluation packets for classes held at the Ware Center
Distribute appropriate parking passes when requested for event guests
Assist with craft activities table at First Friday events
Supervise ARTWALK weekends in October and May
Assist building staff with room set-up for events
Serve as house manager for selected events or other needed event staffing functions
Assist with marketing and business operations as requested
Perform other duties as assigned
